Automate Instagram with Claude Code

Queue Instagram posts, stories and reels from your terminal. Claude Code drives postqueen over MCP or the CLI, so scheduling happens in the session you already have open.

Quick start

Register the postqueen MCP server once and Instagram scheduling becomes a tool Claude Code can call. The plain CLI works too.

What Claude Code can run on Instagram

Instagram tools in your terminal

Over MCP, scheduling and analytics show up as first-class tools. Over the CLI, every command returns JSON that Claude Code can chain reliably for Instagram.

Windows that fit Instagram

Tell Claude Code when your followers are most active and it schedules posts into that window on Instagram, day after day, without reminders.

Media attached, sized right

Images upload in the same postqueen call, so Instagram posts, stories and reels arrive with their media in place instead of a bare link.

Drafts until you are ready

Ask Claude Code for drafts only. They sit on the postqueen calendar unscheduled, so you can edit them and pick the time yourself, and nothing reaches your followers on Instagram until you do.

Three steps to a full queue

Step 1

Discover Instagram

Claude Code calls postqueen to list your connected accounts and sees what Instagram supports, so drafts start from real capabilities, not guesses.

Step 2

Draft with Claude Code

Give it the brief. The agent writes Instagram-shaped posts, stories and reels and proposes publish times that match when your followers are around.

Step 3

Check and publish

Look over the queue on the postqueen calendar and change anything you want. postqueen publishes each post at its time, and Claude Code can pull the results after.

What Instagram allows

Claude Code reads these limits from postqueen before it composes, so a draft that would be rejected never reaches the queue.

Frequently asked questions

How does Claude Code connect Instagram to postqueen?

Over MCP, registered once in Claude Code's own config so the Instagram tools are there in every session. It also runs commands, so the CLI covers the same Instagram posts, stories and reels when you would rather script them; both use the same API key.

Can Claude Code schedule Instagram posts at exact times?

Yes. Give it exact slots or a rule like mornings at nine and it sets publish times on the posts it creates, so your followers see them at the right moment.

Will Claude Code publish to Instagram on its own?

Only if you ask it to. Tell it to save drafts and nothing is scheduled: the posts wait on the calendar until you set a time. Tell it to schedule, and they go out at the times you can see, which is the setup most people move to once they trust the output.

Can one brief cover Instagram and other channels too?

Yes. postqueen connects 30 channels, so Claude Code can turn the same brief into Instagram posts, stories and reels plus adapted versions for every other channel you run.

Does Claude Code access cost extra on postqueen?

No. The agent uses your regular API key and plan limits: unlimited posts on every plan, and channel counts from 5 on Creator up to uncapped on Ultimate.

When is the best time to post on Instagram?

There is no universal best time: it depends on when your audience is online. Schedule the same kind of post into a few different slots for a couple of weeks, then compare the results in postqueen analytics and standardize on the winners.

Can the AI write Instagram captions and hashtags?

Yes. The built-in assistant drafts captions in your tone, suggests hashtag sets and rewrites anything you highlight. Nothing publishes until you schedule it, and agents like Claude Code or OpenClaw can generate whole batches through the MCP server.
