The best social media schedulers, compared honestly

18 tools, one ranked list, full transparency: postqueen is ours, the notes on everyone else are fair.

1

postqueen

The open source scheduler built for AI agents

That's us

postqueen is the open source core of this list: 30 channels, unlimited posts on every plan, and a full automation surface (CLI, MCP server, REST API, webhooks, Node SDK, n8n node) so agents like OpenClaw, Claude Code, and Codex can run your whole calendar.

The honest part: yes, we ranked our own product first. Cloud plans cap connected channels at 5, 10 or 30 depending on tier, with the top tier uncapped, and AI image and video credits are metered per month. Self-hosting is free if you would rather run everything yourself.

2

Buffer

A polished, long running scheduler with a free plan and per channel pricing.

Buffer is one of the longest running tools in this category, launched in 2010, and it still has the cleanest take on queue based publishing. You connect channels, set a posting schedule, and Buffer releases your queue into those slots. It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Google Business Profile, and it comes with a free plan, a mobile app and an AI assistant for drafting.

3

Hootsuite

An enterprise leaning suite that puts publishing, inbox, analytics and listening in one dashboard.

Hootsuite has been around since 2008 and is the most suite shaped tool in this directory. Beyond scheduling it bundles a social inbox, analytics and reporting, and social listening through its Lumen product, all under one login. It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky and Google Business Profile, and it ships a mobile app, a public REST API and official MCP servers that connect its products to ChatGPT and Claude.

4

Later

A visual, Instagram first planner built around a media library and a drag and drop calendar.

Later started in 2014 as an Instagram scheduler and still shows it, in a good way. The product is built around a media library and a visual calendar, so you plan a grid by looking at it rather than by reading rows in a table. It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Snapchat, and pairs that with a link in bio page, analytics and a well regarded mobile app. Later ended support for X in 2025 and no longer posts there.

5

Sprout Social

Enterprise social suite with deep analytics, listening and a shared inbox.

Sprout Social is a long-established social media management platform aimed at mid-market and enterprise teams. It combines publishing, a unified inbox, review management, analytics and social listening in one suite, and it is usually bought by marketing departments that need reporting and governance rather than by individual creators.

6

SocialBee

Category based scheduling with evergreen content recycling.

SocialBee is a scheduling tool built around content categories. You sort posts into buckets such as tips, promos or curated links, set a posting schedule per category, and SocialBee fills the calendar from those queues. That model suits solo creators, consultants and small marketing teams who post consistently on a handful of profiles and want evergreen content to recycle instead of expiring after a single send.

7

Publer

Modular scheduler priced per social account, with a usable free tier.

Publer is a scheduling and publishing tool known for two things: a free tier that covers up to 3 social accounts, and pricing that scales per social account and per team member instead of in fixed bundles. That makes it easy to start small and add capacity one account at a time, which fits freelancers, small businesses and agencies with uneven client rosters.

8

SocialPilot

Agency focused scheduling with bulk publishing and white label reporting.

SocialPilot is a scheduling platform built for agencies and small marketing teams that manage many client accounts on a budget. Client management, group posting, bulk upload of hundreds of posts from a CSV, and white label reporting from the Premium tier are the parts customers most often name. Account limits scale from 5 to 40, with extra accounts sold as add-ons.

9

Sendible

Agency-first social media management with client dashboards and a white label option.

Sendible is a social media management platform built for agencies and marketing teams who run social accounts on behalf of other people. It has been around since 2009 and the product still reflects that focus: profiles grouped by client, approval workflows, and a white label dashboard that lets an agency hand the tool to clients under its own brand.

10

Agorapulse

Publishing, a unified social inbox and ROI reporting for marketing teams and agencies.

Agorapulse is a social media management platform for marketing teams and agencies that treat engagement as seriously as publishing. Founded in 2011, it pairs a scheduler with a unified inbox and reporting that ties social activity back to traffic and revenue through a Google Analytics connection.

11

Metricool

Analytics-led scheduling with ads reporting, priced by brand rather than by seat.

Metricool is a social media management and analytics tool from Spain, founded in 2015, and it is a favorite among solo creators, freelancers and small agencies who want serious numbers without an enterprise invoice. Alongside organic posting it reports on Google Ads and Meta Ads, so paid and organic performance sit in the same view.

12

Planable

Content collaboration and approval workflows for teams and their clients.

Planable is a content collaboration platform for teams that need a client or a stakeholder to sign off before anything goes live. Founded in 2016, it covers nine social networks and extends the same review flow to blog posts, newsletters and campaign briefs.

13

Typefully

A writing-first scheduler built around drafting and publishing to text-based networks.

Typefully began as a thread composer for X and has grown into a publishing tool for text-first networks. The editor is the product, offering a distraction-free canvas with live per-platform previews, and it now reaches X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon.

14

Vista Social

A broad social management suite with publishing, inbox, reviews and reporting in one place.

Vista Social is a full social media management suite aimed at agencies and multi-brand teams. Alongside scheduling it bundles a unified inbox, review management for places like Google Business and Yelp, competitor reporting and an AI assistant, and it publishes to a wide list of networks including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, Threads and Bluesky.

15

Loomly

A calendar-centric platform built around content approval workflows for marketing teams.

Loomly is a social media management platform organized around the content calendar and the approval loop. Teams draft a post, route it through custom approval states, collect comments in context and publish once it is signed off, which is why agencies and in-house marketing teams with a review step tend to like it.

16

ContentStudio

Social media scheduling combined with content discovery and curation.

ContentStudio pairs social media scheduling with content discovery, so finding something worth posting and putting it in the queue happen in the same workspace. It fits marketing teams and agencies running several brands at once, and the per-brand workspaces keep client work separated.

17

FeedHive

Creator focused scheduling with AI drafting, post conditions, and recycling.

FeedHive began as an X focused scheduler and grew outward, and that heritage still shows in the composer. It suits solo creators, founders, and small brand teams who post steadily to a handful of accounts, rather than agencies coordinating dozens of clients.

18

Mixpost

Self-hosted social media management sold as a one-time license.

Mixpost is self-hosted social media management from Inovector, installed as a Laravel package or via Docker on your own server. It suits developers, agencies, and privacy conscious teams who want to own their data, and it is one of the few tools in this category sold as a one-time license instead of a subscription.

F.A.Q.

Frequently asked questions

How is this list ordered?

It is a directory rather than a scoreboard. postqueen is listed first because it is our site, and the other 17 are ordered by how widely used they are, not by a score we assigned. Each entry links to a full row-by-row comparison.

Why is my favourite tool missing?

Because we have not written it up yet. Every entry here has verified channel coverage, feature values and a pricing note behind it, and adding one is research rather than a line in a list. If something obvious is missing, tell us and it goes in the queue.

What should I actually compare on?

Start with the channels you post to, since a tool that does not reach one of them is out regardless of everything else. Then whether you can get your data back out, and whether it can be driven by something other than a human in a browser.

Is there a free option?

Several tools here have free tiers, usually capped by channel or by scheduled post. postqueen's free option is different in kind: the whole application is open source under AGPL-3.0 and free to self-host, with no cap on channels or posts, if you are willing to run it.
