Automate Twitch with Hermes

Hand Hermes one brief and it plans the whole week: drafting Twitch clips and updates, scheduling them at the right times and reporting back when the queue is full.

Quick start

Install the CLI where Hermes executes commands, then hand over the Twitch plan in plain language.

Terminal
npm install -g postqueen
export POSTQUEEN_API_KEY=your_api_key

# A task for Hermes:
# "Plan next week on Twitch: draft five
# clips, schedule them and list
# what you queued"

What Hermes can run on Twitch

One brief, a full Twitch plan

Hermes breaks a goal into steps on its own: draft the clips and updates, upload media, schedule each one and report back with what it queued for Twitch.

Windows that fit Twitch

Tell Hermes when your followers are most active and it schedules clips into that window on Twitch, day after day, without reminders.

Native video, native timing

Video uploads travel through the same postqueen call, so Hermes ships Twitch clips and updates with real media attached and the publish time already set.

Drafts until you are ready

Ask Hermes for drafts only. They sit on the postqueen calendar unscheduled, so you can edit them and pick the time yourself, and nothing reaches your followers on Twitch until you do.

Three steps to a full queue

Step 1

Discover Twitch

Hermes calls postqueen to list your connected channels and sees what Twitch supports, so drafts start from real capabilities, not guesses.

Step 2

Draft with Hermes

Give it the brief. The agent writes Twitch-shaped clips and updates and proposes publish times that match when your followers are around.

Step 3

Check and publish

Look over the queue on the postqueen calendar and change anything you want. postqueen publishes each post at its time, and Hermes can pull the results after.

What Twitch allows

Hermes reads these limits from postqueen before it composes, so a draft that would be rejected never reaches the queue.

Stream title
Up to 140 characters per title
Tags
Up to 10 tags per stream, set alongside a single category
Clips
Clips run from 5 to 60 seconds, captured from a live broadcast or a VOD
Chat announcements
Sent through Twitch's Helix API and require moderator permission on the channel
Video uploads
Twitch's API does not accept uploaded video, so streams and VODs start inside Twitch
Account requirement
An OAuth connection to a channel you own or moderate

Frequently asked questions

How does Hermes connect Twitch to postqueen?

Install the postqueen CLI where Hermes runs commands and export your API key. Every command returns JSON, so the agent can create, schedule and list Twitch clips and updates reliably.

Can Hermes schedule Twitch clips at exact times?

Yes. Give it exact slots or a rule like mornings at nine and it sets publish times on the clips it creates, so your followers see them at the right moment.

Will Hermes publish to Twitch on its own?

Only if you ask it to. Tell it to save drafts and nothing is scheduled: the clips wait on the calendar until you set a time. Tell it to schedule, and they go out at the times you can see, which is the setup most people move to once they trust the output.

Can one brief cover Twitch and other channels too?

Yes. postqueen connects 30 channels, so Hermes can turn the same brief into Twitch clips and updates plus adapted versions for every other channel you run.

Does Hermes access cost extra on postqueen?

No. The agent uses your regular API key and plan limits: unlimited posts on every plan, and channel counts from 5 on Creator up to uncapped on Ultimate.

Can I upload a video or start a stream from postqueen?

No, and no tool can. Twitch's API does not accept video uploads or remote stream starts, so broadcasting stays in Twitch or your encoder. What you can automate is everything around it, which is where the repetitive work actually lives.

What permissions does Twitch require?

You connect through Twitch OAuth and grant the scopes for the actions you want. Editing channel information needs broadcast management rights, and posting chat announcements needs moderator permission on that channel. If a scope is missing, postqueen tells you which one before you schedule anything.
