postqueen vs Metricool
Analytics-led scheduling with ads reporting, priced by brand rather than by seat.
Metricool is a social media management and analytics tool from Spain, founded in 2015, and it is a favorite among solo creators, freelancers and small agencies who want serious numbers without an enterprise invoice. Alongside organic posting it reports on Google Ads and Meta Ads, so paid and organic performance sit in the same view.
Metricool can be scripted, which puts it ahead of most of this market. What it cannot do is hand you the database: postqueen is AGPL-3.0 and free to self-host, so the OAuth tokens and the publishing history stay somewhere you control.

Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between postqueen and Metricool?
postqueen is open source and built for AI agents to drive: the same account is reachable from a calendar, a CLI, a REST API and a built-in MCP server, and you can run the whole thing yourself. Analytics-led scheduling with ads reporting, priced by brand rather than by seat. Which one fits depends on whether you want to automate publishing or manage it in a dashboard.
Is Metricool or postqueen open source?
postqueen is. It is AGPL-3.0 licensed, the code that touches your accounts is public, and self-hosting is free with a Docker image or a Helm chart. Metricool is a hosted product, so the database, the OAuth tokens and the publishing history stay on their infrastructure.
How many channels does each one publish to?
postqueen publishes to 30 channels and Metricool covers 10 of the ones we track. The number matters less than the overlap: list the networks you actually post to, then check both against that list rather than against each other.
Can I drive either one from an AI agent?
postqueen ships a built-in MCP server, a CLI on npm, a REST API, a Node SDK and an n8n node, so Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, OpenClaw and Hermes can all drive it. Metricool has an MCP server but no CLI we could verify. Some of it sits behind a tier though. MCP server: Advanced plans. API: Advanced plans. On postqueen all of it is on every plan.
How does the pricing compare?
postqueen cloud plans run from $20 to $99 a month with unlimited posts on every plan, four or five months free on yearly billing, and a 7-day free trial. Self-hosting is free. Metricool: a free plan is available, with paid plans starting around $25 per month for five brands and scaling with the number of brands connected. Prices move, so confirm both before deciding.
Does Metricool connect to Zapier and Make.com?
Advanced plans. postqueen connects through its public REST API and webhooks on every plan, and ships an n8n community node as well, so the automation layer is not a tier you upgrade into.
What is involved in switching from Metricool?
Plan for the reconnection, not the export. Scheduled posts rarely migrate between tools, so someone re-enters the queue by hand, and every channel needs its OAuth connection made again. The part worth checking first is whether Metricool lets you take your analytics history with you, because that is the piece that is gone for good if it does not.
